In Isaiah 55:8-9 it says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” So, I should not have been surprised when the Lord dramatically redirected my summer plans. After CGA I was planning on coming home to Virginia and transferring my job, but instead I am now preparing to leave for Central America where I will be co-leading a two-month Semesters mission trip with Adventures in Missions. See the picture below to meet my co-leader Alleigh Welgoss!
If this seems like a rapid shift, it’s because it is. It was only two and a half weeks ago that I was asked to lead this trip, and a week since it was made official. The past week has been a crazy overlap of CGA ending, leader training, and packing, and now training camp for my new squad. It’s all very exciting; I met my squad of 16 young people yesterday and we will be flying out on Tuesday after their training camp. Training camp looks like teachings, team building, ministry training, regulatory covid testing, and fun! After three and a half days, we will be heading off to Costa Rica for the month of June, Guatemala in July, and then be back in the states at the beginning of August.
As I am preparing to transition into a new season of squad leading a mission trip, I am reflecting back on what a good season it has been at CGA. The Lord has taught me so much, and especially in the past month and a half, I have stepped into leadership and knowing my identity in the Lord like never before. I am so incredibly grateful for these past five months and for the friendships I have made within my class. Saying goodbye to everyone has been hard, but the Lord has been very gracious and equipped me to step from a season of difficult yet vibrant growth and leadership, to a season of titled leadership and putting in practice what I have learned. Right now, I am writing this in the middle of a very busy training camp, but when I have a minute, I will send out a blog recapping CGA, so stay tuned!
With this mission trip comes an opportunity for me to partner with the Lord in discipling the next generation to be empowered Christ-followers. I am so excited for all the testimonies that will come from my squad and the people we will interact with. This trip also comes with a new opportunity for others to partner with me financially. For this trip I am looking for partners to donate $2,000 to enable me to serve both my squad of young missionaries ready to experience the Lord in a whole new way and our ministry partners overseas. Also, while my time with CGA is technically over, I am still honoring my commitment by finishing strong in raising funds for that season of ministry training that so abundantly blessed both me and many others touched by my life. If you would like to partner with me in keeping that commitment, I am trusting the Lord for partners to donate an additional $3,000 for that. All donations can be made by clicking the Donate button at the top of my blog to make a tax-deductible donation.
As I close out one season and step into the next, I would love for you to also be partnering with me in prayer. Here are a few specific prayer requests. First, for an even deeper closeness with the Lord for me and a humble heart to follow His leading in my life. Second, for my squad to come to know the Lord in an even deeper and vivacious way than ever before and catch a passion for serving Him wholeheartedly. Third, for the people and ministries that my squad will be serving. Fourth, for the safety of my squad as we travel to and stay in other countries. And finally, for Jesus’ name to be made know and for the Kingdom of God to be made manifest wherever we go.
That’s it for now y’all, until next time!
